Item Description
This version of the first edition has a deep maroon linen fabric cover. It features an illustration by Gordon Grant, of a Scout in front of a campsite waving a campaign hat. This is deep maroon version is one of one of four first edition color variations. This particular cover was printed between 1911 and 1914. It is often referred to as the red cover since there have been distinguishable variations in the density of color on some printings. Additionally fading over time has lighted the cover on some copies.
